The Advanced Intelligence & Robotics Research Center (AIBot) in the Brain Science Institute at Tamagawa University conducts research through the following four divisions.
Robotics Research Division
We aim to establish foundational technologies for human–machine collaboration, enabling people and machines to work together on everyday tasks through communication grounded in shared meaning. Our approach extends symbol emergence in robotics—concerned with meaning in the real world—to communication and the use of large-scale data.
Brain-Inspired AI Research Division
We study how virtual experiences using VR can be combined with physical assistance from robots to improve self-efficacy and well-being for people with motor difficulties. Drawing on neuroscience, including brain-activity imaging, we seek methods of assistance that support users while preserving their initiative.
AI Business Development Division
We study business transformation and the creation of new businesses using AI, drones, image analysis, VR, and robotics. Through applications to existing supply chains and value chains, we investigate how AI and robotics can be used effectively in society.
Mathematics, Data Science and AI Research Division
We develop an educational framework that enables students across the humanities and sciences to acquire foundational literacy in mathematics, data science, and AI. This work builds on Tamagawa University’s educational program, which was accredited at the literacy level in August 2021.
